Properties and performances of a frontend ASIC prototype for the readout of the CMS Barrel Muon Drift Tubes Chambers

A frontend Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) prototype developed for the read out of the CMS barrel muon drift tubes chambers has been produced in 100 samples. Several chips were used to read out one superlayer (224 drift tubes) of a full size prototype chamber. The properties of the chips and the performance of the chamber part equipped with the frontend prototype are presented.

CMS experiment will use Resistive Plate Chambers (RPCs) as dedicated muon trigger detectors. The first 24 RPCs for the barrel muon system of the CMS experiment have been assembled and tested. Gas mixture optimization for CMS muon Cathode Strip Chambers

The results of measurements of electron drift velocities and Lorentz angles in the magnetic field B = 0.5 T and 1.0 T as well as amplification properties in various fast gas mixtures are presented in this paper. The experimental data are compared with calculations. The main goal of investigations is to optimize properties of the gas mixture for the Cathode Strip Chambers.
